Alleged taxi rape victim hysterical

A TEEN who was allegedly raped in the back of a taxi was crying hysterically when police responded to her call, a Sydney court has been told.

The woman, who was 18 at the time of the attack, was drinking with friends in the city before being picked up by a taxi shortly after midnight on November 4 last year.

Constable Vida Oakes, who responded to an emergency call from the teenager, told the court the young woman was clearly distressed.
She also had made a point of recording in her notebook that the teenager was "crying hysterically''.
"Her face was really red, really upset,'' Const Oakes read from notes she made at the time.
She also observed that the teenager's belt was undone, her pants were falling down, her underwear was exposed and she was holding one shoe in her hand.
Friends of the woman also gave evidence today, saying she had been intoxicated when they put her in the taxi.
"She was quite drunk and slurring her words and stuff,'' one of the witnesses told the court.
Her friends put her in the taxi, which then sped off as they were closing the door.
"It was at a fast pace and she (one of the friends) was still sort of shutting the door as it (the taxi) drove off.''
The hearing continues before Judge Peter Berman.
